Families’ Water Quality Concerns

Greenwave is a company focused on water purification. Most of our customers are international families and restaurants (like those in consulates and embassies) where diners are very concerned about the water quality.

Customers with high standards for water quality feel completely at ease with the water quality at home after using our water purification products. However, when dining out at restaurants, they often harbor concerns about the water quality served there.

Poor Water Taste Complaints

Many of our home customers have noticed a difference in water quality between their homes and restaurants. Take Element Fresh, which was once a popular chain in China, as an example. Customers who use our water filters at home often found that the water at Element Fresh didn’t taste as good and didn’t meet the same quality standards. Although the restaurant had water filters, they didn’t work as well as our home systems. This disappointment, among other factors, likely contributed to the chain’s eventual closure.

Tianzifang: Startling Water Issues

Eight years ago, only one-third of the restaurants in Tianzifang used Greenwave filters. During our first round of water filtration, we were surprised by the amount of sediment that came out of the pipes. What we uncovered was shocking: After installing our direct drinking water system, we discovered that mineral buildup in the pipes could clog coffee machines. This issue revealed that many restaurants were not paying enough attention to the quality of their water, prompting us to take action.

Veteran Chef’s Water Insight

Gregor, the head chef at Hyatt Shanghai, once shared a conversation with us where he emphasized the importance of cooking water. He pointed out that the water used for cooking is even more crucial than drinking water. If the water used for cooking isn’t of good quality, it’s unlikely that the quality of other water sources can be trusted either. His insight highlights how the quality of water directly impacts both the food we eat and, ultimately, our well-being.

Barriers and Greenwave Solutions

Throughout the service process, we identified several key situations:

  • Some restaurants are willing to invest in purification systems but struggle to find quality equipment and reliable service.
  • Others are unwilling to spend due to financial constraints.
  • A third group falls somewhere in between—they can afford certain costs but worry about high expenses. More importantly, they feel that high-quality equipment takes up too much space and comes with high maintenance costs.
